Thanksgiving Food Drive
November 21st, 2009Last year we collected over 2,500 pounds of food from 1,000 of our neighbors in order to help the hungry in the Staunton/Waynesboro/Augusta County area served by the Verona Community Food Pantry. This year we hope to recruit even more neighbors to feed even more people! We will be collecting canned food from our Waynesboro and Staunton neighbors on Thanksgiving weekend.
Teams will gather at Tabernacle and Holy Cross on Friday, Nov. 27th at 10:00am to distribute collection bags to surrounding neighborhoods. Then after church on Sunday, Nov. 29th, we will go back to our neighbors to collect their bags full of food. Maps and details will be available that Friday and Sunday—come help either day or both days!
This event cannot succeed without a large turnout from Tabernacle and Holy Cross (every person, even youth, who participates adds roughly 50 households to our collection). Help us help our neighbors as we help the hungry!
If you are going to be out of town, you can still help by preparing the bags for distribution on Tuesday, Nov 24th at noon at the church office. If you can help or have questions, contact us or the office.
